Missionaries of the Holy Spirit
Christ the Priest Province Vocations

Our mission is the same one of Jesus who was sent to save us and sanctify us through the gift of his Spirit. (Constitution Art. 3.12)

As apostles of the Holy Spirit and of the Cross, we are sent to promote holiness in the people of God according to our spirit: in this way we will extend the reign of the Holy Spirit. (Art 3.12)

Thus, our primary mission is to conform our lives into the image of Christ the High Priest and to work to encourage God's people to live to the fullness their baptismal priesthood in the world by building a society of justice and Christian virtue. This is done in a particular way through a deep prayer life that has the Eucharist as its center.

Our founder, Fr. Felix Rougier MSpS (1859-1938), used to say that our name reveals in itself all of our life's meaning as religious and priests: we are Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, we belong to the Spirit, we are sent by the Spirit and as instruments of the Spirit we work to make the Spirit known to others.

Our ministry and apostolic activity proceeds from our intimate union with the Trinity which in turn becomes the source of our spiritual life. For this reason Fr. Felix wanted us to be “Above all, contemplative, and then men of action.”
